Mariam Farag is Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at MBC Group, spearheading the network’s corporate responsibility, communications with a purpose vision and diversity & inclusion strategy. An award-winning advocate, public speaker, and advisor for youth development and gender equality, she has 20 years of experience in social development, humanitarian relief, media, corporate affairs and humanizing brands in the MENA region and globally.
Responsible for devising, developing and implementing strategic impactful partnerships for the region & globally. Working closely with different stakeholders internally & externally such as production, tv, marketing, PR, digital, merchandise, consumer marketing and social media among others to develop creative content, world class campaigns and initiatives with strong brands on a 360 approach. Strengthen the brand positioning while ensuring a balance between profit and purpose. Increasing co/promotional brand partnerships for long-term relationships with sustainable impact.
Mariam was awarded the C3 US-Arab Business & Healthcare Summit “Humanitarian of the Year” by the international organization, during the United Nations General Assembly Week in New York. She is also listed as one of the 25 most innovative female game-changers in the Middle East by The Tempest.
During her seven-year career at MBC, Mariam has successfully established and overseen the development of the network’s corporate affairs & sustainability arm, MBC Hope, into an award-winning global sustainable, diverse & inclusive initiative. Mariam worked closely with HR, strategy and the PMO to create an organizational cultural change to humanize the brand and imbed D&I into our DNA. Other key achievements include the launch of Basmet Amal, a Ramadan special, which has raised US$7.8 million in donations over the last five years.
Mariam is a regular public speaker on gender equality, youth engagement and sustainable development, and a member of a number of leading notable bodies, including INJAZ Al-Arab Regional Board, UNICEF Leadership Circle MENA & GCC and UAE Advisory Board of Education for Employment (EFE).
