ABOUT
Theresa “Terry” Weber serves as Executive Director of the American Chamber of
Commerce in Abu Dhabi (AmCham Abu Dhabi), the leading independent western
trade association in the UAE, comprised of Fortune 500 corporations, small and
medium sized companies and prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs. Terry
leads AmCham Abu Dhabi’s efforts to promote trade and investment between the US
and UAE through innovative and effective business, policy, advocacy and information
programs, including 50+ annual events. She is a founding member of the Women in
Business Committee.
Terry has 25+ years of international executive experience in trade and investment
promotion, project management, business development, marketing, and strategic
planning. Having worked in the Middle East for over 10 years, she brings a unique
perspective from managing people and programs in the US, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Originally from New York, Terry worked in advertising and banking before joining
the Council on Foreign Relations, a leading think tank. Since then she has managed
international economic development projects in 20 countries for businesses,
nonprofit organizations and international donors including the US Agency for
International Development, US Department of State, US Department of Defense and
United Nations Development Program.
Her trade and investment management positions include serving as Regional
Director, Eastern Europe for the Global Trade and Technology Network, in Budapest,
Hungary, where she expanded an ecommerce trade program to eight countries. As
Regional Director, Central Asia for International Executive Service Corps, in Almaty,
Kazakhstan, she oversaw and developed technical assistance and economic
development projects in five countries and facilitated joint ventures worth $37
million with American companies.
An innovator and entrepreneur, Terry has cofounded two businesses: ACT LLC, an
international management consultancy, and Alliance Publishing, with offices in the
US and Asia.
She has also conducted marketing and management workshops for universities and
companies. She holds a BS from Georgetown University in Washington DC, USA, an
MA from the University of London, England, and a Masters in Project Management
from Villanova University in Philadelphia, USA.
Active in the local UAE community, Terry serves on the Board of St. Mary’s Group of
Schools in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Kaimah and Sharjah. Previously, she
